My dear Peel,
21 96
Downing Street,
October, 1932.
I enclose for your information a copy
of correspondence with the Cement Marketing
Company Limited. Nr. Chapman, the Managing
Director of the Company, called here the other day.
He is very anxious to have an interview with you
before you return in which he can point out the
claims of British cement. He has already arranged
to see Messrs. Binny Son and Deacon.
I note that in reply to a question in the
Legislative Council asking whether preferential
consideration would be given to British materials
in the Sting Fun contracts, the following answer
wes given: "Subject to the concurrence of the Con-
sulting Engineers, other factors being approximately
equal, preference will be given to British materials,
but in the interests of the taxpayer no more far-
reaching assurance can be given." I think it
would be useful if you could find time to give
SIR WILLIAM PEEL, K.C.L.G., K.E.E.
Kr.
